When i did my job shadow I shadowed a mechanic in that works for the Tulare Fleet Maintenance his name is Hoslvoldo Navarro he is a close family friend. I did my job shadow on march fourth 2016. I chose it because he does not just work on cars he also works on diesel and other machinery.
What had happened throughout the day was working on multiple vehicles. I stayed for a few hours I had started around 6am and ended around 11am, one thing I had done was change the mudflaps on a garbage truck because on had broken and the other one had fallen off, also I had help fix the reverse siren on the truck because it had gone out. It turned out to be a lose wire nothing major it was an easy fix.
Some things I had learned was that you have to be really patient for a job in this field of study, i really liked how on a lot of the trucks don't run on of diesel they run off a new fuel system i don't know what the correct name is but how they explained it to me was it is almost like dry ice and there is no fuel pump because the pressure from the fuel pushes itself through the lines to the engine. One thing I didn't like was how the technology is changing so much it is making cars/ machinery a lot harder to work on.
I am still very interested in working in that field of work because it is a hands on job you are never doing the same thing everyday you are doing something different and getting your hands dirty. Another thing i liked a lot was that you are always learning you never stop learning with a job like that.
